Beyond the Executive Committee and Council, PEI works to engage its members in events and planning groups. Working groups are a way to get involved with your favorite aspects of the organization. In the past, we have hosted the following working groups:
Strategic Planning Working Group
Polar Educators International is forever indebted to the hard work of the members who helped to write our strategic plan. The in-depth plan allows us to look forward with vision on the various components of the organizations goals and outlines objectives that can be measured and achieved.
Website Development Working Group
This working group was a more technical and organizational focused team that developed content for the website and populated its pages. We are always looking for people interested in this task. Contact us if you want to contribute here.
Launch Committee Working Group
This team of international members works to create a dynamic public launch campaign for Polar Educators International that will carry with it the enthusiasm to bring in more members, create name-recognition and marketing for PEI, as well as share its impacts already in progress around the world.
International Polar Week Working Group
These members targeted the efforts of PEI with its partner APECS and ARCUS to create a webinar for scientists and educators on bringing polar science to classrooms. Additionally, the group helped to facilitate the search for a polar week flagship activity. This consisted of soliciting membership, compiling and reviewing submissions, and advertising participation during polar week. PEI aims to continue working with its partners in this manner so check back for upcoming Polar Week working groups.
Starting a new working group? If you feel there is an event, topic, or campaign that PEI can get involved in you can start a working group to bring together like-minded members and make a stronger impact on our community. Check out this simple plan (coming soon!) on how to start a working group.
