Two programs (SmartICE and Ikaarvik) designed for and by Inuit are discussed. SmartICE couples indigenous knowledge of sea ice and travel safety with modern technology and job training to improve health, safety, and food security, as well as ice climatology records. Ikaarvik enables underserved Inuit youth to drive scientific experimentation coupled with intergenerational knowledge transfer.
